    As promised in the last post, here comes a review about a highly reputable local institution.

    How reputable Not only has this place been recommended in many comments on various platforms, our tour guide certification course conclusion celebration dinner was held here, which was arranged by our class monitor, a middle-aged native who is so well-versed in local culture he has been chosen as a volunteer tour guide at the Classic Gardens, so I trust his judgment w/ no reservation.

    And my trust was rewarded w/ an absolutely fabulous meal! Came here w/ my visiting parents, and they enjoyed the fares as well.

    For me, the stand-out was 酱方, the winter choice of the "four meats (porks) of Suzhou cuisine." Despite the fattiness of the meat chunk, it didn't feel greasy at all and ranks as one of the best we've ever had. The same could be said about the superbly aromatic scallion oil noodles.

    Instead of squirrel fish, which was on our table at the place reviewed in the last post, we opted for 响油鳝糊 swamp eel in sizzling oil, another favorite of ours, and here they served the dish in the proper manner by dousing on hot oil at the table.
